A painting created through free improvisation. Action painting set to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Thinking about the final scene of the film 2001: A Space Odyssey and an explanation its director, Stanley Kubrick, gave shortly before his death. Kubrick explained that the character is taken by god-like entities, creatures of pure energy and intelligence. They place him in what could be described as a human zoo to study him, and his entire life is spent in that room, but he has no sense of time. When they finish with him, he transforms into some kind of super-being and is sent back to Earth, becoming a figure in the mythologies of different cultures.
Landscape, Nature, beings of this world and others... all filtered through a dream and built on a wall marked by graffiti, dirt and the passage of time, in a big city.
We, who are Nature but have become something else.
Gestural, intuitive painting that lets things happen and relies on what emerges. Taking advantage of the unexpected and accepting the consequences.
The unknown, that which slips through our fingers... Nature, antiquity, the earthly and the spiritual.
The need to tell stories, to leave a mark, to understand the world, which is always both modern and ancient.
Nothing matters much... Working with a lost look in my eyes...
